APRIL 2020: IZZET WIZARDS PIONEER

BW Humans W
UR Ensoul Artifact W
UR Wizards W

Notes:
BW HUMANS
Game three: I top deck my lone god in the deck. A blocker that could ping immediately is sweet! WIN.

UR ENSOUL ARTIFACT
I won game one through speed. I got disconnected from the internet during sideboarding. And by the time I got my connection back, the page/server is now taking a nap.

UR WIZARDS
I got flooded in game one. I had the momentum off the bat. prowess plus removals for his prowess equals game three.

Game three: he had no creatures but he had removals for my creatures. It's so happened that I also had burn spells of my own in which it became a counter spell for his burn spells. WIN.

This is all for now. I am experiencing on and off internet signal for the past hour.

Stay safe everyone! Stay at home!

APRIL 2020: UR STORM

Untap-in

BUG with Uro W
Boros Burn W
UWg Stoneblade with Uro W
BW Junks L
Death Shadow with Lurrus companion L
ELVES W
BUG with Uro W

Notes:

BUG with URO
Game three: Despite losing my Grapeshots and Past in Flames to his Surgical Extractions, I still managed to win (with an online Ascension) by casting Electrodominance and Increasing Vengeance for lethal X damages. WIN

BOROS BURN
Game one: Double Eidolon by his third turn was to much for me to handle.

Game two: He had a second turn eidolon. I had a turn three madcap into platinum. he had no answer so onto our rubber match.

Game three: My fifth turn, our life points were: him 13 me 9. He had two Eidolons out but tapped out. I have two PA where in only one was online and the other one had one counter on it. My hand after the draw has the following: lands riual cantrips. I casted one of the cantrips and gave me madcap and electrodominance. I remember him bringing cards from sideboard to main deck before our game three so that made me think he has brought in artifact hate. so instead of going madcap route again, I casted the ritual (giving the second PA its 2nd counter) into ED with two copies of it for lethal.

UWg STONEBLADE with URO
Game one was long. It took me many turns before finally landing a Pyromancer Ascension. It goes online a turn after and won in that same turn.

Game two: Third turn Madcap into Platinum seems to be promising until he reached four lands and simply bounced my 8/8. It was an uphill battle since then. Uro and a 4/4 vigilance linfelink germ forced a rubber match.

Game three: He had no answer to a second turn Empty the Warrens for 14. Too early for his Batterskull or any board wipe. WIN

BW JUNK
Game one: Too many discard spells. Stoneforge Mystics into Batterskull won him the game.

Game two: I got stuck with two lands. Too many discards spells again. His Stoneforge into Batterskull again won him the game.

DEATH SHADOW with LURRUS as companion
Game three: Too many discard spells plus he had counter spells to deny me of whatever I cast. It was also in this game that the black cat mattered because he was able to call his Death Shadows in successive turns.

ELVES
I remembered what happened to me from the hands of my Elves opponent last night. So I was careful when and where to throw my Lightning Bolts and Grapeshots during game one. I clean his board with Grapeshot and aim for the win the turn after.

Game two: Lightning Bolts took care of his early dorks but it did not stop him from going-off. He ended up calling Craterhoof Behemoth. I Trickbind the trigger and only took nine combat damage from what supposed to be lethal if not for that stifle effect. I won the game when I got my turn back. Grapeshot for nine then Past in Flames recycle some spells again into Grapeshot for the win.

BUG with URO
Game one: Ascensions did not go online because he had main deck permanent removals (Decays and AsTros). He won because of multiple Trackers with counters on them.

Game two: Turn two Blood Moon and turn three six goblins. I win in three swings.

Game three: He had an Engineered Plague creature out naming goblins. It was in my last turn when I dropped my golden goblin. I casted a Sleight of Hand. He responded by casting Fatal Push in an attempt to kill my bear. I simply responded by calling all the instant spells from my hand. Now that I enough floating mana, I shoot for the win: Grapeshot then Past in Flames into Grapeshot for lethal.

This is all for now. Stay safe people! Stay at home!

APRIL 2020: UR STORM MODERN

14 APRIL 2020
Untap-in

UWg Control Blade with Uro L
Elves Combo L

Notes:

UWg CONTROL BLADE with URO
Game three: He was able to established his life points thanks to Batterskull. 8 goblin tokens cannot overwhelm a 1 germ with 4/4 and lifelink. Teferi and Jace soon started showing up in his side until he was able to replenish his hand to eight cards at hand. It was a great experience trying to out wit from the locks of his super friends.

ELVES
He went off by turn four. Elves spells cascaded into Throne of the God Pharoah then pass the turn leaving 26 elven tapped. Jiz. He got disconnected. No game two. Sad.

It's 1:30 in the morning here. I feel so sleepy after that long grind against the caw-blade control and watching a ten minute "what me play magic cards with color green".

Thank you for reading. Stay safe guys! Stay at home!

APRIL 2020: MONO BLUE MERFOLK

13 APRIL 2020
Untap-in

4c Control L
Mono Red Prowess W
Tron W
Mono Black Control W
Tron L
Goblins L

Notes:

4C CONTROL
Game one was long. He was able to control the board with  the Teferies (big and small), uro, and snakes. Not to mention he also had the Cryptic Command and Island Sanctuary soft lock. Unfortunately there's no game two because he got disconnected.

MONO RED PROWESS
Team prowess was fast. They successfully ate 15 life points in just four turns. Unfortunately, opponent was unable to complete the task because my merfolks took control of the board state. The tide began to turn into our favor when Brazen returned one of his 4/5 Sour-Scar Mage. Then vials into Trickster and Harbinger brought more frustrations to them. His little red army of prowess was powerless to stop my 4/4 and 5/5 islandwalkers. I won game one in one swing. Opponent suffered the a similar fate in our game two.

TRON
Seas won me game one. Seas denied him of completing the set. Game two: he tried to kill my Lord of Atlantis through Balista's ping, but I had Trident and 2 Reejereys to the rescue. And when I got my turn back, I win in one swing.

MONO BLACK CONTROL
Ensnaring Bridge was the biggest obstacle during game one until I draw my lone Brazen. Bounce the nuisance and we swim for the win. Game two, he got stuck in two Islands (Swamps with seas on it). WIN.

TRON
Game one: my hand was: Benthicc, Benthicc, Island, Spreading Seas, Silvergill, Trident, and Trickster. Greedy I am, I keep to this. I did not see my second land.

Game two. I got stuck at two Islands. Ugin, the Ineffable and its tokens overrun me a few turns after he got online.

GOBLINS
I keep a hand with one land (island) but with an Aether Vial and a Benthicc in it together with a lot of two drops including one silvergill. I was not able to draw my second land. He had Goblin Matron fetching the tool box he needed.

I won game two by islandwalk.

I suffered the same fate in game three. I keep a one land hand withh vial, benthicc, and Seas Claim. Vial got destroyed a turn after and no second land came to my aid.

I will stop for now. Thank you for reading!

Please stay safe guys! Stay at home.

APRIL 2020: IZZET WIZARDS PIONEER

Here I am again, sharing my Izzet Wizard from my untap in results.

13 APRIL 2020
Untap in

UR Ensoul Artifact W
RBu Tempo W
Mono Black Aggro L
UR Aggro W
RGb Aggro W

Notes:

I am not impressed with the performamce of Brazen Borrowers so I took them out from the 15 and replaced them with a Tormod's Crypt and enlisted my lone Scab-Clan Berserker again to duty.

UR ENSOUL ARTIFACT
The game was all about speed and bolt-shock removals. And if bolt-shocks are opponent's only main source as removal, Hazoret is king. It is important to kill asap his small artifact creatures using shock burn spells before they start creating problems later on. Abrade also played big during the late game of game three.

RBu TEMPO
He won game one because he had a lot of cheap removals for my prowess army. Izzet charm, pushes, and Collected Brutalities keeping his boat afloat with drain life for two.

I won the next two games because of prowess speed and Dreadhorde Arcanist's recycle ability.

He produced tokens off the YP as his last hurrah, but Goblin Chainwhirler single-handedly killed them all. Also in this game: my lone Tormod's Crypt in the deck > what could have been a fourth turn Bedlam on his part. WIN.

MONO BLACK AGGRO
Game three: Turn zero Leyline of the Void > Dreadhorde Arcanist. He had a lot of removals for my early one drops. After that bloodbath, he started assembling his army headed by Gifted Aetherborn. He finished me off with Gray Merchant of Asphodel drain lifing the hell out of me.

UR AGGRO
In a battle between a mirror of fire and bolt, the first one to call the 5/4 god wins. I did three full turns ahead of his. WIN.

RGb AGGRO
Pump and protection spells to his creatures paired with that green enchantment (Season of Growth) equals gas.

I managed to win game one because I top deck a Wizard Lightning for lethal damage. I won game two because he cannot do anything against my indestructible 5/4 haste pinging god.

Scab-Clan Berserker also did its share by scoring six trigger points when opponent casted three non creature spells. WIN

This is all for now. Stay safe people! Stay at home!

APRIL 2020: IZZET WIZARDS PIONEER

Happy Easter Sunday everyone!

Here are the results of my today's Pioneer gaming over at Untap in.

12 APRIL 2020
Untap in

Mono Red Aggro W
UR Tempo W
BUG L
BUG W
BW L
BUG W
GW aggro W

Notes:

I am still using the list of the Magic Fest Nagoya winner, except for two cards in the sideboard, Izzet Staticaster and Scab-Clan Berserker. I replaced them with two Brazen Borrower / Petty Theft.

MONO RED AGGRO
He cannot kill Hazoret with shock and bolts. I win.

BLUE-RED TEMPO
His deck's main offensive engine is headed by Irengrag Pyromancer and Improbable Alliance. His deck's second draw sources are: Royal Scions, Izzet Charm, Jace, Vryn's prodigy, Fevered Visions.

I almost lost this round because of Irencrag's bolt trigger abilty if not for the timely Wizard's Lightning successfully eliminating it. And since his main source of removal is through fire, Hazoret made it an uphill battle for him. WIN.

BUG
Turn one Deathrite Shaman. I feels like legacy again.

The theme of his deck was like that of the modern traversing jund deck. I won game one because of speed.

Game two was different because Uro keeps on giving him 3 life points cushion.

Game three I  tried to be fast as possibe but he had Fatal Pushes for my small red army. And to make more fun, I got stuck with two mana.

Game three went long. This Izzet Wizard deck is not great in long games. Shock spells are useless top deck cards for it cannot kill fat creatures or planeswalker. Even so, I still did not quit because I wanted to see how his deck really works.

BUG
The deck loves to bin cards straight from to top of his library to graveyard. Cards like Stitcher Supplier, wayfinder, scrapheap, Creeping Chills, Grisly Salvage, Driven / Despair, Fiend Artisan, and Uro are just some of the things that I can recall.

I won our rubber match because of speed. Three 1/2 prowess + two Crash Throughs + Wizard's Lightnings was to much for his defense to handle. WIN.

BW
We only played one game. He was able to lock me with the help of mulitple Larrus as companion + Selfless Spirit + and that 1/1 BW creature that says when dealt damage, destroy target non-land permanent. I lost to recurring spirit and four copies of that black cat as his companion.

BUG
Another uro, chill, Grisly Salvage, stitcher, sultai cards deck. I won two games. It seems that the deck's main engine is anchored on the color blue. Mytical Disputes are my MVP for this game.

GW with Kaheera (companion)
I lost game two to three Leonin Vanguard, +1/+1 plus lifelink is king. I won game three with a combination of three prowess + burn as removals to his cats. WIN.

That is all for today. By the way, regarding the Brazens, I do not think they fit well with the team.

I'll probably replace them with Tormod's Crypt since those kind of BUG decks are getting rampant.

Stay safe people! Stay at Home!

APRIL 2020: IZZER WIZARDS PIONEER

11 APRIL 2020
Untap-in

RD1: UB inverter 2-0
RD2: URW Tempo 2-1
RD3: Boros Aggro 2-0
RD4: Mono Blue 2-0

Notes:

I did not take down notes while I was playing because I  wanted to sleep early. So while they are still fresh in my memory, here are some of the good hings that I can still recall.

The mono blue. I feel like it is the next level mono blue in pioneer. I saw some new cards like the octopus that allows you to draw whenever it hits opponent. The blue-black hybrid 2/2 that gives discounts to cards with flash.

Most of the removals of UWR tempo are based on damage dealing. So when my Hazoret hits the table, I know I am going to win the race. To which I did. God + obsession = gas into WIN.

Against the inverter, Mystical Dispute and Disdainful Stroke did great in denying him of the cards he needs.

And lastly against the Boros aggro, use your burn spells wisely. Be mindful of when to cast this and to cast that for it can save your creatures in your next turns.

Well this is all for now. Stay safe guys! Stay at home!

Thank you very much for reading!
